Thanks to Jobbsprånget, Emtinan joins our group for 4 months to study data-driven modeling for a couple of scenarios arising in industrial mathematics.
Emtinan holds a PhD from SISSA (Trieste, Italy) and postdoctoral expertise in mathematical physics from Uppsala (Sweden).
We open an internship on math modeling, simulation, data analysis and visualisation of crowd dynamics and other evolution systems; see https://iva.force.com/Jobbspranget/s/job-offer/a0167000018G8ai/mathematical-modeling
I am happy to report a successful Mathematics with Industry day (Dec 15, 2020, Karlstad, Sweden). We solved one of the industrial problems and made progress on the other two. Approximately 35 persons were involved in this adventure, which took place via zoom.
Details on the involved companies and text of the problems can be found viahttps://www.kau.se/MIMM-day
Congratulations to Dr. Thoa Thieu for the yesterday PhD defence in the applied analysis group in Karlstad! Your result is well-deserved!

Region Värmland and Swedish Forest Agency have provided us with two very interesting practical questions. Now, it is the turn of applied mathematicians to address them during the MiMM Day (#mimmday). For details on the problems, as well as registration link to the event, see https://www.kau.se/MIMM-day
From 16peope present, I could “screen shot” 12 🙂 That’s really nice to have so many of you in this course!
Last Friday I did speak about the concept of Mathematics with Industry Day. See here my slides ErasmusDays_ITEM-MiMM.
Thank you Jessica Jaynes and Bogdan Suceava for giving me the opportunity to speak about “Evolution of social masses: application of modeling with measures to pedestrian flows” to you and your colleagues! It was a pleasure meeting you online Friday night (11pm in Sweden, 2 pm in California) – a quite unusual timeslot to deliver a scientific talk.
